GCU's online and evening tuition rates are for students who are interested in pursuing an online degree program or taking evening classes. Online and evening rates vary depending on the program of study. The typical range for all undergraduate, graduate and doctoral programs vary per credit hour. A special rate is available for those in active duty and active reserve.

Important Cost Information for Doctoral Programs With Dissertations

PhD in Counselor Education and Supervision

This program requires completion of a minimum of 65 credits, which will take a minimum of 45 months. Students who have not received final approval of a dissertation at the completion of those credits must enroll in Research Continuation courses until they have completed an approved dissertation. Research Continuation courses are three-credit courses, charged at the same per-credit tuition rate as all other doctoral courses. Research Continuation courses, if necessary, will add to the cost and time to complete this program. This program had fewer than 10 graduates over the last five years. Therefore, GCU is providing data for all students who completed any GCU dissertation-based doctoral program between Jan. 1, 2018, to Dec. 31, 2022. Over that time, 1,943 doctoral graduates took an average of 5.9 years to complete all program requirements and required on average 10.9 Research Continuation courses to complete their dissertation. These program graduates paid an average of $50,896 in tuition and fees, including continuation courses, over the duration of their program. The maximum number of credits eligible for Title IV funding that a student can take in their initially enrolled program version, assuming they earn passing grades and otherwise remain eligible to receive Title IV funding, is 95. As of Jan. 10, 2024, this program had fewer than 10 students who did not finish within that number of credits. 2024-25 tuition rates for all courses beginning May 1, 2024.

It is the policy of GCU to collect and remit sales, use, excise and/or gross receipts taxes in compliance with state and local taxing jurisdiction regulations, which require the university to remit tax where applicable. Regulations vary by student location. Payment of tax is ultimately the student's financial responsibility to the university regardless of financing arrangements. Per Hawaii requirements: It is hereby stated that students residing in the State of Hawaii will be charged Hawaii General Excise Tax on all transactions. Students living in the District of Oahu will be charged 4.712 percent. Students residing in other Hawaii districts will be charged 4.1666 percent.

MOU 9120 & 9121: This scholarship is only valid for those applicants who are participating in a GCU College of Education or Secondary Education Emphasis master’s degree program, offered online, and who submit a completed application to start their program on or before December 31, 2024. If you enroll in a master’s degree program through any of the College of Education or Secondary Education Emphasis degree programs offered online, Grand Canyon University will offer you 18% off the tuition per course for your program. This scholarship will be applied at the same time the tuition charges occur. This scholarship cannot be used in conjunction with any other GCU scholarships/awards. This scholarship will be applied toward your tuition only and does not include fees (i.e., Canyon Connect, Technology, etc).

§ MOU-Alumni 2000 Doctoral-Feb2024: The Alumni Scholarship for Doctoral Programs is only valid for those applicants who submit a complete application and begin a Doctoral program in February 2024. This scholarship cannot be used in conjunction with any other GCU scholarship or awards and only applies to online and evening programs. Please speak to a university counselor for complete details.
